CFII - Flight Instructor Airplane Course
How The Program Works
The CFII course is designed to add an additional rating to your existing Flight Instructor Certificate. It can also be used to gain an Initial Flight Instructor Certificate, but another 3 days must be added to the program to do that. Most people will already have their Flight Instructor Airplane Single Engine certificate so the course here reflects that.
Pre-Requisites
Proficiency - You need to be instrument proficient with a current IPC prior to starting the program. Instrument proficient means that you can take a practical test for an Instrument rating airplane and meet all task standards in the Instrument Airplane ACS including holding, loss of primary flight instruments and non-vectored approaches. If you aren’t current you will need to come early and get proficient with us before starting the flight/simulator portion of the training.
- You also will need to have completed the Knowledge Test to be ready to take the Flight Instructor Instrument Airplane knowledge test. If you have taken it, the results are good for two years so be sure it’s still valid.
Program Includes
12 Hour
Online Course
The online course makes sure you have all of the technical and regulatory IFR knowledge prior to attending our 3 day live class. This is not preparation for the knowledge test. This is training so that you have all of the required knowledge that could be tested on the practical test (Checkride).
One on One
Training
This is a three day class that goes over all of the technical subject areas in the Flight Instructor Instrument Airplane Practical Test Standards. The course contains two days of immersion into the subjects and one day of teaching IFR lesson plans in the class. You will be given a complete set of lesson plans to use on your practical test and with your students afterward.
3 Days
Flying/Simulator
You will fly in the simulator for 3 flights, each progressing in difficulty and in scope. The last scenario includes non-vectored approaches, partial panel and an icing issue…for example. Each sim is 1.5 to 2 hours.
